Who Should Apply?
Each year the Academy grants twelve full graduate Fellowships to accomplished young leaders and professionals. The characteristics of a strong applicant listed here are simply meant to be representative, not definitive. We are committed to building a diverse class of Fellows with a range of backgrounds and experiences. If you feel the Academy would be a formative time in your life and you are willing to contribute to to the community, we encourage you to apply.
Characteristics of a strong Fellowship applicant
- 1-5 years out of college
- Excellent academic record
- Good communication skills, speaking and writing
- Self-disciplined work ethic
- Committed to living in and contributing to community
- Eagerness to learn, appreciation for new ideas
- Sincerity in following Christ
- Vision for how a year at the Academy will shape their future
- Many Fellows find the Academy an ideal year to prepare for graduate school in medicine, law, business or academia
- A graduate degree or prior work experience is not a prerequisite, but we find that Fellows who have additional experience beyond their undergraduate degree are able to pursue an understanding of specific issues that arise in their field
- The Academy does accept married couples, but both members must apply and be accepted independently
- Fellows come from all over the country - Washington to Florida, Rhode Island to Texas. The Academy also accepts international applicants.
- Fellows faith backgrounds include all major Protestant denominations
as well as Catholicism
