Apply for an Alumni Scholarship
As a means of continuing to invest in the lives and callings of Fellows, the Academy Board is making available a scholarship fund of $1,000 for alumni to pursue a project or research interest in line with their professional, academic or spiritual development. If attending a conference or traveling for research purposes, the Alumni Scholarship recipient should be willing to make a presentation about the Academy to appropriate parties. The Alumni Scholarship recipient should also be willing to write a reflection on their experience and how it relates to their thinking on Christian life so it may be included online or in an Academy newsletter. To apply for the scholarship, please submit a 250 word proposal along with a proposed budget to gpowell@ttf.org. The proposal should mention how your Academy experience prepares you for this opportunity. Funds must be spent between June and December 2009. Members of the Academy Board will serve as the Scholarship Committee. The deadline for proposals is April 30, 2009. The Scholarship (s) will be announced no later than May 15, 2009.

Are you interested in hosting a Trinity Forum event in your city?
The Trinity Forum recently hosted an event to help prepare leaders to host Trinity Forum events in their own city. If you would like to learn more, contact Beth Chapman ('03) at bchapman@ttf.org.

Conversations Newsletter - we are further developing the Academy newsletter as a place where Alumni and Fellows (along with guest speakers and Scholars in Residence) can continue to work through their own ideas and share their experiences with our wider community. If you have other thoughts on the newsletter, or how best it could build on the Academy experience, we’d love to hear from you. Thanks to all who have contributed already. If you would like to contribute, here are some thought starters:

  • Current reflection on your QRE topic
  • Essay on a current issue in your career, or another field of interest
  • Review of a new book or movie you’ve read or watched,
  • Reflections on a lecture or conference that you’ve attended, a trip, an effort or organization that you’re involved in

Typical submissions are 1000 words or longer. Contact Grady at gpowell@ttf.org if you are interested in submitting an article.

Opportunities to participate in Alumni Weekend:

New Website – Profiles and Participation
If you haven’t seen the new website, check it out! Thanks to David Scudder (’08), we now have a robust platform to expand our communications to potential applicants, donors and our broader community. One vital way we want to express the value of the Academy experience is to include comments from alumni. I’ve posted a form on the Alumni Resources section of the website (Under Join In) which you can download and send in, or print and bring with you to Alumni Weekend.

Alumni Bookshelf – Add to your Academy legacy!
Conversations with alumni often revolve around books they have found influential in their lives. Academy guests and future Fellows will be inspired if you:

  • Select a book that you feel is important to include in the Academy Library
  • Write a short paragraph explaining why you chose the book and why it would be important for a future Fellow to read
  • Bring a copy of the book with you to Alumni Weekend, attach a custom Academy bookplate (provided), and place it proudly on our alumni bookshelf. We’ll format and print your comments to include inside the front cover.

It will be fun reviewing what books your classmates have chosen. We’ll publish the list of contributed books in an upcoming Academy Newsletter. If you can’t make it to Alumni Weekend, you can still participate! Just mail in the book. Once you’ve decided on a book, let me know. You can check on the Alumni website to see what books have already been chosen.
